A 1996 Swedish Warmblood, Norseman was bred in Smithers, BC by Biz Bastian and trained by Joni Lynn Peters. Ingham’s family purchased Norseman as a step from her leased horse Caboose, into more competitive and higher levels. They have won a large number of accolades together and traveled many thousands of kilometers over North America.
The horse that started launched me into the high performance ring, I am so grateful to have had such an amazing animal in my life. We were connected more than I could ever explain… I have hours of beautiful memories alongside my Normy – both in the saddle and out. He meant the world to me, and will always hold a dear place in my heart…
With great sadness Esmee had to make the extremely difficult decision to lay Normy to rest during one visit home in July 2018.
A warm and sunny day in July with a slight breeze through his mane, I stood next to him as we set him free. There has been a significant increase in arthritis throughout all of his fetlocks, knees and hocks. A decision that was far from easy for me, but one that not every horse owner has the chance to make. He crosses over the rainbow bridge with dignity and a shine in his coat. I am so thankful to this amazing creature who has shaped who I am for the past 10 years. Thankful to this beautiful soul for offering his kind spirit to me as a dance partner. Thankful to this horse who has created opportunities and experiences for me that make him my Heart Horse. There will never be another one the same.
I am overcome with an immense amount of gratitude for everyone who has been a part of our journey. I would begin to list names but that would take me past the allowed word count.. this horse has touched the lives of many and his impact is profound.
As our bronze medal winning freestyle sang... You and me together, We could do anything.
